As parents, we face a tremendous challenge helping our daughters build a healthy body while also forging a healthy body image. Our society places great emphasis on female beauty and negative messages reach our children at a very early age. In fact, 9 out of 10 girls want to change at least one aspect of their physical appearance and 6 out of 10 girls are so concerned with the way they look that they are holding back from participating in important life activities.
What is a mother to do?!
Societal pressures will always be there. There will always be magazines, movies, and social media that target youth
But what we can control is how we stand up as their role model and lead the way.

We all have our own baggage about body image, self worth, and not-quite-right relationships with food and exercise from our early years, but it's time to find a better way. Not only do YOU deserve to feel fabulous, but what do you think our children are learning if they see us gaining and losing, restricting and binging, stressing and throwing our hands up in defeat? Social learning theorists say that observational learning is one of the most powerful mechanisms of socialization. A child observes another person who serves as a model (whether that is good or bad!) and then imitates what the model does in turn learning how to do something she didn’t know before. So, what are your kids picking up from you?
I want to guide you to uncover GENUINE health. This health doesn't always show up as six pack abs or size 4 jeans. It does mean that you will have muscle mass and bone density to carry you gracefully into old age though. It does mean that you can finally have a positive relationship with food and movement. It does mean that you'll have the strength and energy to keep up with your kids and their activities. And it does mean that you will have the skills, the language, the mindset, and the lifestyle to raise a strong confident child.
How do we do it? Habits.
It sounds so simple, but I promise you that this is the key to sustainable, long term health and happiness that doesn't come from a place of deprivation or shame.
